			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Reverse osmosis was developed as a water treatment method more than 40 years ago. The process first arose as a technique of desalinating seawater. Once the method’s decontaminating capabilities were recognized, reverse osmosis systems began to be commercially produced for home water purification purposes. Such systems were installed in homes as early as the 1970s. Reverse osmosis systems seemed a viable option to the more costly and energy-wasteful distillation units.</h3>
<h2>The Process:</h2>
<p>The reverse osmosis process depends upon a semi-permeable membrane through which pressurized water is forced. Reverse osmosis, simply stated, is the opposite of the natural osmosis process of water. Osmosis is the name for the tendency of water to migrate from a weaker saline solution to a stronger saline solution, gradually equalizing the saline composition of each solution when a semi-permeable membrane separates the two solutions. In reverse osmosis, water is forced to move from a stronger saline solution to a weaker solution, again through a semi-permeable membrane. Because molecules of salt are physically larger than water molecules, the membrane blocks the passage of salt particles. The end result is desalinated water on one side of the membrane and a highly concentrated, saline solution of water on the other side. In addition to salt particles, this process will remove a select number of drinking water contaminants, depending upon the physical size of the contaminants. For this reason, reverse osmosis has been touted as an effective drinking water purification method.</p>
<h2>Pros and Cons:</h2>
<p>Reverse osmosis is a valuable water purification process when mineral-free water is the desired end product. Most mineral constituents of water are physically larger than water molecules. Thus, they are trapped by the semi-permeable membrane and removed from drinking water when filtered through a reverse osmosis system. Such minerals include salt, lead, manganese, iron, and calcium. Reverse osmosis will also remove some chemical components of drinking water, including the dangerous municipal additive fluoride.</p>
<p>Although reverse osmosis does extract several contaminants from drinking water, its removal capabilities are not ideally suited to the challenges of the municipally treated water that the overwhelming majority of people receive. Municipal water contains such contaminants as chlorine and volatile organic chemicals (VOCs). Because these contaminants are physically smaller in size than water, the semi-permeable membrane cannot prohibit them from passing through with the water. Thus, they remain in drinking water.</p>
<p>Reverse osmosis, also, by removing alkaline mineral constituents of water, produces acidic water. Acidic water can be dangerous to the body system, causing calcium and other essential minerals to be stripped from bones and teeth in order to neutralize its acidity. Trace elements of minerals were intended to be in water; their removal leaves tasteless, unhealthy drinking water.</p>
<p>Reverse osmosis, although it is less wasteful than distillation, is still an incredibly inefficient process. On average, the reverse osmosis process wastes three gallons of water for every one gallon of purified water it produces.</p>

<p>Soda, pop, cola, soft drink — whatever you call it, it is one of the worst beverages that you could be drinking for your health. As the debate for whether to put a tax on the sale of soft drinks continues, you should know how they affect your body so that you can make an informed choice on your own.</p>
<h3>Soft drinks are hard on your health</h3>
<p>Soft drinks contain little to no vitamins or other essential nutrients. However, it is what they do contain that is the problem: caffeine, carbonation, simple sugars — or worse, sugar substitutes — and often food additives such as artificial coloring, flavoring, and preservatives.</p>
<p>A lot of research has found that consumption of soft drinks in high quantity, especially by children, is responsible for many health problems that include tooth decay, nutritional depletion, obesity, type-2 diabetes, and heart disease. <h3>Why the sugar in soft drinks isn’t so sweet</h3>
<p>Most soft drinks contain a high amount of simple sugars. The USDA recommendation of sugar consumption for a 2,000-calorie diet is a daily allotment of 10 teaspoons of added sugars. Many soft drinks contain more than this amount!</p>
<p>Just why is too much sugar so unhealthy? Well, to start, let&#8217;s talk about what happens to you as sugar enters your body. When you drink sodas that are packed with simple sugars, the pancreas is called upon to produce and release insulin, a hormone that empties the sugar in your blood stream into all the tissues and cells for usage. The result of overindulging in simple sugar is raised insulin levels. Raised blood insulin levels beyond the norm can lead to depression of the immune system, which in turn weakens your ability to fight disease.</p>
<p><a href="http://slenderflexiblebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/soft_drinks.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-50" title="soft_drinks" src="http://slenderflexiblebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/soft_drinks-187x300.jpg" alt="" width="187" height="300" /></a>Something else to consider is that most of the excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain and elevates risk for heart disease and cancer. One study found that when subjects were given refined sugar, their white blood cell count decreased significantly for several hours afterwards. Another study discovered that rats fed a high-sugar diet had a substantially elevated rate of breast cancer when compared to rats on a regular diet. <h3>The health effects of diet soda</h3>
<p>You may come to the conclusion that diet or sugar-free soda is a better choice. However, one study discovered that drinking one or more soft drinks a day — and it didn’t matter whether it was diet or regular — led to a 30% greater chance of weight gain around the belly.</p>
<p>Diet soda is filled with artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose, or saccharin. These artificial sweeteners pose a threat to your health. Saccharin, for instance, has been found to be carcinogenic, and studies have found that it produced bladder cancer in rats.</p>
<p>Aspartame, commonly known as nutrasweet, is a chemical that stimulates the brain to think the food is sweet. It breaks down into acpartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol at a temperature of 86 degrees. (Remember, your stomach is somewhere around 98 degrees.) An article put out by the University of Texas found that aspartame has been linked to obesity. The process of stimulating the brain causes more cravings for sweets and leads to carbohydrate loading.</p>
<h3>Carbonation depletes calcium</h3>
<p>Beverages with bubbles contain phosphoric acid, which can severely deplete the blood calcium levels; calcium is a key component of the bone matrix. With less concentration of calcium over a long time, it can lower deposition rates so that bone mass and density suffer. This means that drinking sodas and carbonated water increases your risk of osteoporosis. (See: AJCN)</p>
<p>Add in the caffeine usually present in soft drinks, and you are in for even more trouble. Caffeine can deplete the body’s calcium, in addition to stimulating your central nervous system and contributing to stress, a racing mind, and insomnia.</p>
<h1>Skip the soda and go for:</h1>
<h2>Fresh water</h2>
<p>Water is a vital beverage for good health. Each and every cell needs water to perform its essential functions. Since studies show that tap water is filled with contaminants, antibiotics, and a number of other unhealthy substances, consider investing in a quality carbon-based filter for your tap water. <p>On the go? Try using a stainless steel thermos or glass bottle, filled with filtered water. Enhance the flavor of your water with a refreshing infusion of basil, mint leaves, and a drop of honey.</p>
<h2>Fruit Juice</h2>
<p>If you are a juice drinker, try watering down your juice to cut back on the sugar content. Buy a jar of organic 100% juice, especially cranberry, acai, pomegranate, and then dilute three parts filtered water to one part juice. You will get a subtle sweet taste and the benefit of antioxidants. After a couple of weeks, you will no longer miss the sweetness of sugary concentrated juices.</p>
<h2>Tea</h2>
<p>Tea gently lifts your energy and has numerous health benefits. Black, green, white, and oolong teas all contain antioxidant polyphenols. In fact, tea ranks as high or higher than many fruits and vegetables on the ORAC scale, the score that measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods.</p>
<p>Herbal tea does not have the same antioxidant properties, though it is still a great beverage choice with other health benefits, such as inducing calming and relaxing effects.</p>

<p>Symptoms are not the disease. Body weakness, lost power, is not a disease; but, by causing a flagging of the elimination of tissue-waste, which is toxic, the blood becomes charged with acids, and this I call acidosis &#8212; poison in the blood and tissues. This is disease, and when the toxin accumulates beyond the toleration point, a crisis takes place; which means that the poison or acid is being eliminated. This we can call disease, but it is not. The only disease is systemic acidosis, which localizes in the weakness parts of our body. And what we call disease are symptoms produced by a forced vicarious elimination of acids through the mucous membrane.</p>
<p>When the elimination takes place through the mucous membrane of the nose, it is called a cold &#8212; catarrh of the nose. And where these crises are repeated for years, the mucous membrane thickens and ulcerates, and the bones enlarge, closing the passages. At this stage hay fever or asthma develops. When the throat and tonsils, or any of the respiratory passages, become the seat of the crises of acidity, we have croup, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, etc. What is in the name? All are symptoms of the expulsion of acids from the blood and tissues at the different points named, and are essentially of the same character and evolving from the one cause &#8212; namely &#8212; systemic acidosis &#8212; a crisis of toxemia.</p>
<p>The description can be extended to every organ of the body, for any organ that is enervated below the average standard from stress of habit, from work or worry, from injury, or from whatever cause, may become the location of the crises of systemic acidosis. The symptoms presented differ with each organ affected and that gives color to the belief that every symptom-complex is a separate and distinct disease. But, thanks to the new LIGHT shed upon nomenclature (naming disease) by the philosophy of the &#8220;New Biology,&#8221; every symptom &#8212; complex goes back to the one and only cause of all so-called diseases &#8212; namely systemic acidosis.</p>
<p>So there is only one sickness, one disease, and one treatment. The one sickness and disease is the over-acidification of the blood and tissues due to an inverted way of living, eating, and thinking. <p>For as long as I can remember, people have been talking about losing weight, especially women. When I was very young, my mother was on this thing called a diet. I remember she ate tuna fish every day and drank the new 1 calorie drinks. Then when I attended High School, many of the girls I knew, were trying to lose weight for the prom, a dance concert, or just so they could buy a size smaller jeans. A few of my friends started taking this weight loss idea to dangerous extremes with bulimic and anorexic behavior. One of them did this for so long that her intestinal tract dried up and no longer functioned well. Checking in at a whopping 83 lbs., she finally had to have an operation to remove large parts of her intestine and required a colostomy bag for the rest of her life! All of this so she could remain the skinniest cheerleader on our High School Squad!!</p>
<p>Our nation, (or rather the world) appears to be confused and sometimes recklessly (the phen phen fiasco) searching for some magic bullet or potion that will allow everyone, especially women, to be at their ideal (or below) weight. The diet industry continues to be a multi billion dollar production that keeps offering up new methods, diets, and programs all making claims for results. However, obesity continues its climb to an epidemic, not only for adults, but for our children, and it has become apparent that our answer to the solution will never be found in one little pill or bottle. For the rising generation, we also need to focus on obesity prevention, not only for the emotional health of our young women, but also their physical well beings, as many diseases like diabetes and heart disease seem to accompany obesity. Women in particular are under extreme pressure in our society to remain sleek and ideal. Super models and movie idols are almost always close to the physical ideal that most women would love to be. This is first brought to our attention as young females when we notice magazine covers in the check-out stand of the grocery store, most of which portray beautiful slim fit women in desirable fashions. From a very young age we develop a belief that if we can attain this look, we will be desirable, successful, and fulfilled. Diet and Exercise equipment ads remind us as women, that we need our thighs trimmed and shaped, our bellies blasted and our buttocks busted!! Goals are set for women to remain in single digit dress sizes. Everywhere women are given a message that less is more when it comes to an ideal weight, and all with an attached sideline that we should remain toned, curvy and sexy. Now that’s what I call pressure!!!</p>
<p>Some women choose to starve themselves thin, or over exercise until they have run every last extra calorie out of their systems. Eating disorders are marginally higher in women than men, as are appointments for liposuction, (the quick fix for unwanted extra fat baggage). Women will do anything to remain slim and attractive and in some cases it has cost them their health. In these scenarios, food becomes a villain or a substance to fear rather than the safe friendly gasoline we should all fill up on to nourish ourselves and provide the best source of energy. It is in this vain that I would like to approach women with a scientific researched fact that when a woman is overweight, it is not a fat problem, but rather an acid problem. She is over ACIDIC. This was confirmed to us this year as we heard from a plastic surgeon that had read our book and decided to send in some samples of fat to the lab to see for herself if what we were saying was true. She wrote: “You are exactly RIGHT..Fat is full of acid!” In The pH Miracle, Dr. Robert O. Young states that fat is created to bind acidity in the body and to store it away from the internal vital organs and delicate systems of the body. He believes (and so do I), that when we gain weight as extra body fat, that it is a self preservation mode that the body goes into to protect life. So in reality, FAT could be saving your life! We should be thankful for this protective response, but in understanding it, we can also change the way we live, eat, and think so that we no longer need this type of reaction. This is where the chemistry of our bodies comes in and where an approach of alkalizing the diet makes perfect sense. It also explains why so many women yo-yo with their weight when they hop from dieting to not dieting and back again. It becomes a vicious cycle imbalance. I believe that if we can teach women that food can be USER friendly and that by just understanding the chemistry behind the digestive process, they can find hope in a sure way to remain their ideal weight all their life, and along with that, experience the best health they could ever imagine. One is a by-product of the other, when we alkalize our diets and body fluids.</p>
<h2>Here’s the FACTS</h2>
<p>The first thing we all have to realize is that our blood stream is set at an alkaline count of 7.365. The pH scale goes from 1 to 14 with 7 being neutral. Anything below 7 is acidic, and anything above is base or alkaline. Our blood, like our body temperature is set at a specific number and if it varies from that, we experience problems, just as we do if our temperature varies from 98.6.</p>
<p>The body therefore will go to great lengths to maintain it’s slightly alkaline fluid environment. If the body or tissues becomes too acidic, the body will tap into alkalizing buffering reserves to neutralize acidity and maintain it’s delicate balance of 7.365. Some of those alkalizing buffers would include calcium from our bones and magnesium from our muscles. Hmmm so perhaps this is why osteoporosis and flabby muscles sets in as we age. Maybe our diets have been too acidic!</p>
<p>The ratio of acid to alkaline in the body, is something we need to understand too. It takes 20 parts alkalinity to neutralize one part of acidity. This would make investigating an alkalizing diet even more key to maintain our ideal weight and health. So from here the most important thing to know and put into practice would be: Which foods are acidic?&#8230;. and which foods are alkaline, or more properly said, alkalinizing. From there if we could make the more alkalizing foods absolutely delicious and plentiful in our diets, I think we would have found the ultimate solution to the weight problem we have today, in fact, I know this to be true, from our experience in the last 15 years of studying, living, and experiencing it.</p>
<h2>Digestion and Food</h2>
<p>All food that is digested in our bodies metabolizes down to an ash residue. This ash residue can be neutral, acid, or alkaline. It is important to understand that the cells of our body are bathed in an alkaline fluid. Over acidification of body fluids and tissues signals a state of imbalance, opening the door to sickness and disease, and extra fat. (As well, an overly alkaline blood pH signals a generally over-acidic condition, as the blood pulls in alkaline salts to neutralize the acidity.)</p>
<p>Foods which create an acid residue are coffee, black teas, soft drinks, meats and other flesh proteins, eggs, dairy products, yeasty bread and yeast products, fermented foods like soy sause, miso, tempeh, vinegar, alcohol, sugar and high-sugar fruits. Dr. Young has found through scientific research that sugars, white sugar, brown sugar, maple syrup, high fructose corn syrup, high-sugar fruits and fruit juices and even high-sugar vegetable juices like carrot and beet juice, contribute to excess fermentation in the blood, which creates excess acidity in our body fluids. This in turn would trigger one (among many) responses in the body to create fat to bind (or hold) the acidity and store it under the skin on our stomachs, thighs, buttocks, arms, and even under our chinny-chin-chins to keep it from harming our vital organs. Acids, as their name implies burn or erode, so creating fat is really a life saving occurrence. We should be thankful for it, but we don’t need to become a slave to it, if we understand why it happens. Once we begin to adopt a new way of eating, living, and thinking, we can require less self preservation mode reactions (like creating fat) in our bodies, and have much leaner, more energetic bodies.</p>
<p>If we can find delicious foods and drinks that will not require this fat triggering reaction, we should be able to freely eat foods and drinks that will satisfy us, nourish us, and help us maintain our natural alkaline environment and deposit many essential alkalizing minerals that will keep us strong and healthy. This would also be the best way to prevent premature aging. In conclusion, alkalizing our diets would be the best, most conducive way to maintain our ideal weight all our life! This makes our choices easy. We can choose from a plethora of delicious, energy enriching alkaline foods and make sure they take up about 70-80% on our plates, and in turn our bodies will very easily digest and maintain homeostasis or balance. At Last! No more fad extreme diets, but rather an alkalizing lifestyle that includes: hydrating easy-to-digest foods and drinks, along with other healthy habits like plenty of fresh air and sunshine, and the proper exercise. I believe the body has incredible capacity to heal and function properly for many years, if given the right fuel that is life generating. This is where we must begin to look for those foods that are most molecularly supportive of maintaining our inherent alkalinity.</p>
<p>Once a person becomes balanced, or is down to their ideal weight, or symptom free (over acidity causes many other symptoms besides extra fat on the body) then high sugar fruits could be eaten occasionally, for cleansing purposes. In an out of balance body they contribute to additional fermentation and stress on the body.</p>
<h2>So… what can I eat?</h2>
<p>You may have noticed that the list of acidic foods is a familiar list of most common everyday foods ingested by most people.. and isn’t it interesting that disease is rising in people all over the world. Cancer is up, Diabetes is in epidemic proportions and inflammatory conditions of all types are very prevalent in our fast paced modern societies. CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), Aids, Lupus, and Arthritis are plaguing more and more women. Even mental disorders are on the rise, depression, ADD, and Anxiety disorders are all common place in most families. So the journey we must all take, is to find the alkalizing foods and drinks and replace our acidic choices with better ones. We don’t have to sacrifice taste, texture or even calories. All we have to give up is some known toxic substances that are causing us to rot from the inside out. Once the body reaches a state of balance, it will find it’s ideal weight effortlessly. Loosing weight has never been so easy. Many women who take just this first step to drink and eat more alkalizing foods, notice an initial drop in body weight that is considered water weight. This happens, once again, because the body no longer needs to dilute the acidity present in the blood and tissues.</p>
<p>Alkalizing foods or foods which create an alkaline residue are vegetables – especially greens of all kinds, such as spinach, cucumber, lettuce, grasses, celery, broccoli, soaked and sprouted seeds, nuts, and grains and low-sugar fruits such as avocado, lemon, lime tomato, and bell peppers. Raw foods are more alkalizing, while cooked foods are acidifying. Gosh, could that mean we really need to cook less? How convenient!</p>
<p>To maintain a balanced and alkalized pH in blood and tissues, the diet should contain at least 70-80 percent alkalizing foods, and no more than 20-30 percent cooked or acidifying foods. Our bodies are like the earth, which is 70 percent water and 30 percent mass. Therefore it makes sense to keep our meals based in high-water content foods that are alkalizing to the blood and tissues.</p>
<h2>What about Protein and Calcium?</h2>
<p>Our bodies break down to: 70% water 20% fat (give or take) 7% protein 1-2 % vitamin and mineral ½ -1% sugar</p>
<p>It is evident that most people think protein and calcium need to come from meat and dairy products to be complete. This simply is not so. Women live in fear that their bones will turn soft if they don’t get enough calcium and protein in their diets, but once the bone leaching reaction is understood, as a way the body continually tries to neutralize acidity in the body (Calcium is a main alkalizing buffer or neutralizer in the body) women can understand that they don’t need to loose bone mass when their diets are high in green foods containing the chlorophyll molecule. All leafy greens are inherently high in Calcium, magnesium and many B-vitamins which are so important to good central nervous system health. Osteoporosis is also on the rise in women and it is my belief that the reaction is caused again by too much protein or acid causing foods and drinks in the diet. Even Dr. Atkins advised strongly that a calcium supplement needed to be taken if someone went on his diet. He knew the leaching affect his diet had on the bones. When I lecture to women, I put it simply, as: Where does the cow get her protein and calcium? It’s from the grasses and grazing that she gets her precursors to complete proteins found in all green foods. I am 50 and just had a full bone scan, I am happy to report that my bone scan showed only a 4% decrease in bone mass making me have the bones of a 30 year old! I’ll take it!!!!  so it’s not always where we get our protein and calcium needs met, but rather how well assimilated and absorbed those elements come to us thru the best sources we can find. <h2>So how do I make this work?</h2>
<p>A good place to start is to load up the greens on your plate. Mom always told you to eat them and she was right! (Mom’s are like that, ya know!) Increase the beautiful leafy greens in your diet and decrease the acidifying foods. There are great replacements for vinegars and other fermented substances that would acidify your system. Lemon juice is one of those and though it’s pH tests acid outside the body, because of it’s low sugar content and the bicarbonates it pulls into the blood during digestion, it leaves an alkaline ash as a residue. Once you know how to work with new condiment friends, you can give up the old acidifying standards that are keeping the weight on you. (See Back to the House of Health 1 and 2 for more instruction on phasing and transition.)</p>
<p>Realize that the chlorophyll molecule is almost identical to your own blood hemoglobin. To choose more foods that closely resemble your blood molecular structure would result in foods and drinks that are more supportive in your body (because they would build good blood) and take less effort to digest. Switch the proportions they take up on your plate. Have a huge salad with avocado and good Olive Oil or Flax seed oil, and just have a side serving of pasta or grain, or fish. Switch your rice side dish to raw steamed buckwheat which is a high protein seed, not a starchy grain. Also start hydrating the rivers and streams of your body by drinking more alkalizing drinks. There are many great green drinks that are available, but the ones that are the most alkalizing are those with a variety of grasses and green leafy vegetables. These regenerative foods give the best fuel and keep the weight off us, because there is no need to bind and hold acidity. Drink plenty of pure structured water that adds to the alkalinity in your system and watch the pounds literally melt off you. It’s all a matter of finding great alkalizing recipes and knowing how to order from a restaurant menu to achieve the most alkalizing result. Once your taste buds have adjusted to the more humble subtle sweetness of raw foods, you won’t consider this lifestyle one of deprivation, but a gift you give yourself with the best payback; vitality, great health, and your ideal weight for a lifetime! Can eating FAT be healthy? Can it help me lose weight?</p>
<p>Another misconception I find out in the field is a “fat” phobia. I believe it stems from the NOfat and low-fat marketing propaganda that was placed before women a few years ago. This was actually a dangerous attempt to convince women that they should eat NO fat in their diets whatsoever. The simple deception was presented as: if you don’t eat fat, you won’t get fat. I don’t believe most women had a good understanding of the different kinds of fats and their essential roles in our bodies. Also this fad didn’t last long because then women ate more sugars and carbs and ended up gaining more weight than ever!</p>
<p>Science, however teaches us that essential fats (as their name implies) are vital for good health and even aid in dropping acidic extra body fat when we are eating an alkalarian diet, and our health is in a state of balance. The body’s blood cells are all equipped with a bio-lipid membrane (lipid means fat). The brain is approximately 90% fat. Fats also need to be present in the system for normal healthy hormonal production and development. With this knowledge understood, it would seem that healthy fats in the diet could only help us maintain our ideal weight as women. I have actually had women who when they finally realized that they could eat avocados again, start crying because they were so overjoyed to find this out! Most women believed that avocados were too high in fat and they thought they would gain weight from eating them. The truth is avocados are one of the most perfect foods on the planet, being rich in nutrients, minerals like copper and iron, with more potassium than a banana (and much less sugar), with vitamins A, B complex, C,E,H,K and folic acid. The other part that most people don’t know is that they provide all of the essential amino acids, more protein than cow’s milk, and Omega 3 and 6. The avocado ranks as the most easily digested rich source of fats and proteins in a whole food. Approximately 63 % of the fat contained in avocado is monounsaturated and only 17 % is saturated fat which is medium chained fats that help reduce yeast and bacteria in the body creating less sugar cravings and thus less acidity which makes us sick, tired and fat. In addition, both types of fat serve as good energy sources in the body, once we convert to fat as the source for our fuel (rather than sugars, carbs, and high proteins which are more stressful on the body and leave acidic residues.) The rest of the fat found in an avocado, about 20 % is polyunsaturated and serves in cellular construction of the cells membrane. No wonder I call avocados, God’s butter! Every morning for breakfast Dr. Young and I have a shake with cucumber, spinach, a whole avocado, soy sprouts, lime and some ice in it. I add a little stevia and mint and have a smooth minty rich creamy wonderful shake. I put a little raw unsweetened coconut sprinkled on top and that keeps this busy woman burning strong for many hours. It’s wonderful, and I know I’m getting the best blood purifier, bone builder, energy packed, alkalizing, fortified breakfast on the planet! Try it! Even my handsome son-in-law loves these shakes. For children we pour them into popsicle molds and they love to have them for a healthy snack.</p>
<p>Fats are also a better fuel for energy production in the body too. If a woman is getting most of her calories for energy burning from complex carbohydrates and sugars, the by-products of those (through fermentation) can leave heavy amounts of ethanol alcohol, lactic and other acids as residues for the body and lymphatic system to deal with. Once again, this can act as a trigger for the body to bind this acid with fat and pack it on women, tipping the scales upwards. However a body that has essential fats coming from good sources (flaxseed oil, Olive Oil, Marine Fish oils, Udo’s oil, avocados, raw nuts and seeds etc.), and that provides balanced Omegas and rich oils like lauric oil found in pure coconut oil, will ultimately use the fats for energy burning, anti bacterial aids, and neutralizing of acids, which in turn will never put on extra unnecessary weight. Fats also burn more slowly in the body and keep us satisfied for a longer period of time than carbohydrates. They are wonderful for our skin too.</p>

<p>Dr. Otto Warburg discovered the root cause of cancer in 1923  and he received the Nobel Prize for doing so in 1931. He investigated the metabolism of tumors and  the respiration of cells, particularly cancer cells. Lack of oxygen and acidosis are  two sides of the same coin: where you have one, you have the other. ”All  normal cells have an absolute requirement for oxygen, but cancer cells  can live without oxygen – a rule without exception.” – Dr. Otto  Warburg: ”</p>
<p>Deprive a cell 35% of its oxygen for 48 hours and it may  become cancerous.” – Dr. Otto Warburg.</p>
<p>Dr. Warburg has made it clear  that the prime cause of cancer is oxygen deficiency (brought about by  Toxemia). Dr Warburg discovered that cancer cells are anaerobic (do not  breathe oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of high levels of  oxygen.</p>

And doctors willing to give  						bicarbonate IVs are not on every corner so it’s been  						somewhat frustrating to have something so simple and  						effective remain elusive. <p>Though we have known that oral  						intake of sodium bicarbonate will have the ‘Simoncini”  						effect on oral, esophagus and stomach cancer we have not  						focused at all on the systemic effect of bicarbonate  						taken orally. Every cancer patient and every health care  						practitioner should know that oral intake of sodium  						bicarbonate offers an instant and strong shift of blood  						pH into the alkaline.  						So strong is the effect that athletes can notice the  						difference in their breathing as more oxygen is carried  						throughout the system and as more acids are neutralized.<a href="mhtml:mid://00002189/#_edn1">[i]</a> The difference can be stunning for those whose  						respiration is labored under intense exercise loading.<a href="mhtml:mid://00002189/#_edn2">[ii]</a> This tells us to take very seriously the oral use of  						bicarbonate for cancer treatment no matter what other  						treatment is used.</p>

<p>This diagram  						shows the diffusion directions for H+, CO2, and O2  						between the blood and the muscle cells during exercise.  						The resulting concentration changes affect the buffer  						equilibria, shown in the upper right-hand corner of the  						diagram (yellow). If the amounts of H+ and CO2 exceed  						the capacity of hemoglobin, they affect the carbonic  						acid equilibrium, as predicted by Le Châtelier&#8217;s  						Principle or the quantitative treatment in terms of  						equilibrium constants. As a result, the pH of the blood  						is lowered, causing acidosis. The lungs and kidneys  						respond to pH changes by removing CO2, HCO3-, and H+  						from the blood.</p>
<p>When one reads my thesis on different medicinal  						substances one has to always remember that I am a  						protocol man who does not support single shot cures for  						anything. With the publication of today’s chapter on  						sodium bicarbonate and maple syrup sodium bicarbonate  						slips securely into the number three spot right behind 						<a href="http://www.magnesiumforlife.com/" target="_blank">magnesium   						chloride</a> and iodine. Each of these three substances  						effects directly onto basic human physiology in a way  						most pharmaceutical drugs do not. When used together we  						have a super threesome that will inexpensively go far to  						resolving many of the physical and even some of the  						emotional problems we and our children face. And if you  						have not made the connection please note that all three  						of these substances are used in emergency rooms and  						intensive care wards and they do commonly save lives  						every day with their inherent healing powers. <p>All cancer sufferers and in fact  						every chronic disease patient should hold clearly in  						mind that pH is the regulatory authority that controls  						most cellular processes.  						The pH balance of the human bloodstream is recognized by  						medical physiology texts as one of the most important  						biochemical balances in all of human body chemistry. pH  						is the acronym for &#8220;Potential Hydrogen&#8221;. In definition,  						it is the degree of concentration of hydrogen ions in a  						substance or solution. It is measured on a logarithmic  						scale from 0 to 14. Higher numbers mean a substance is  						more alkaline in nature and there is a greater potential  						for absorbing more hydrogen ions. Lower numbers indicate  						more acidity with less potential for absorbing hydrogen  						ions.</p>
<p>Our body pH is very important  						because pH controls the speed of our body&#8217;s biochemical  						reactions.   						It does this by controlling the speed of enzyme activity  						as well as the speed that electricity moves through our  						body; the higher (more alkaline) the pH of a substance  						or solution, the more electrical resistance that  						substance or solution holds. Therefore, electricity  						travels slower with higher pH. If we say something has  						an acid pH, we are saying it is <em> hot and fast</em>.  Alkaline pH on the other hand,  						bio-chemically speaking, is <em> slow and cool</em>.</p>
<p>Body ph level changes are intense in the profundity  						of their biological effects. Even genes directly  						experience external pH. pH differentially regulates a  						large number of proteins. Increased oxidative stress,  						which correlates almost exponentially with ph changes  						into the acidic, is especially dangerous to the  						mitochondria, which suffer the greatest under oxidative  						duress. Epigenetics, which may now have begun eclipsing  						traditional genetics, commonly describes how factors  						such as diet and smoking, rather than inheritance  						influence how genes behave.</p>
<p>The following chapter comes after 100 pages of text  						in the Yeast and Fungi Invaders section of the 						<a href="http://www.winningcancer.com/" target="_blank">Winning  the War  						on Cancer book</a>. Please note that sodium bicarbonate  						taken in water alone will have a powerful 						 						 						effect on entire body physiology because of the instant  						shift into alkaline pH levels. Bicarbonate can be taken  						frequently throughout the day with half teaspoons  						amounts though for long term use lower doses are safer.  						For cancer patients initial use should be heavy and  						frequent to force a greater shift because smaller pH  						shifts can actually stimulate cancer growth.</p>
<p>Common sense knowledge speaks loudly about cancer  						and Candida patients avoiding glucose. This is similar  						to the common sense of pilots who know to pull back on  						the stick to pull out of a dive. That works until you  						approach the speed of sound and at that point all the  						pulling in the world will not work. You have to push the  						stick forward and do what instincts scream not to do.  						Several died trying until Chuck Yeager pushed that stick  						forward and became the first man to break the speed of  						sound.</p>

In fact so great is the reduction that the dangers are  						brought down to zero. Costs, which are a factor for the  						majority of people, of this particular treatment are  						nil. 						 						 						Though this cancer treatment is 						 						 						very inexpensive, do not assume it is not effective. The  						bicarbonate maple syrup cancer treatment is a very  						significant cancer treatment every cancer patient should  						be familiar with and it can easily be combined with  						other safe and effective natural treatments.</p>
<p>This cancer treatment is similar in principle to  						Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT). IPT treatment  						consists of giving doses of insulin to a fasting patient  						sufficient to lower blood sugar into the 50 mg/dl. In a  						normal person, when you take in sugar the insulin levels  						go up to meet the need of getting that sugar into the  						cells. In IPT they are artificially injecting insulin to  						deplete the blood of all sugar then injecting the lower  						doses of toxic chemo drugs when the blood sugar is  						driven down to the lowest possible value. During the low  						peak, it is said that the receptors are more sensitive  						and take on medications more rapidly and in higher  						amounts.</p>
<p><a href="http://slenderflexiblebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/veritas7.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16" title="veritas7" src="http://slenderflexiblebody.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/veritas7-300x117.png" alt="" width="300" height="117" /></a></p>
<p>The bicarbonate maple syrup  						treatment works in reverse to IPT. Dr. Tullio Simoncini  						acknowledges that cancer cells gobbles up sugar so when  						you encourage the intake of sugar it’s like sending in a  						Trojan horse. The sugar is not going to end up  						encouraging the further growth of the cancer colonies  						because the baking soda is going to kill the cells  						before they have a chance to grow. Instead of  						artificially manipulating insulin and thus forcefully  						driving down blood sugar levels to then inject toxic  						chemo agents we combine the sugar with the bicarbonate  						and present it to the cancer cells, which at first are  						going to love the present. But not for long!</p>
<p>This treatment is a combination of pure, 100% maple  						syrup and baking soda and was first reported on the  						Cancer Tutor site. When mixed and heated together, the  						maple syrup and baking soda bind together. The maple  						syrup targets cancer cells (which consume 15 times more  						glucose than normal cells) and the baking soda, which is  						dragged into the cancer cell by the maple syrup, being  						very alkaline forces a rapid shift in pH killing the  						cell. The actual formula is to mix   one part baking  						soda with three parts (pure, 100%) maple syrup in a  						small saucepan. Stir briskly and heat the mixture for 5  						minutes. Take 1 teaspoon daily, is what is suggested by  						Cancer Tutor but one could probably do this several  						times a day.</p>
<p>“There is not a tumor on God’s green  						earth that cannot be licked with a little baking soda  						and maple syrup.” That is the astonishing claim of  						controversial folk healer Jim Kelmun who says that this  						simple home remedy can stop and reverse the deadly  						growth of cancers. His loyal patients swear by the man  						they fondly call Dr. Jim and say he is a miracle worker.  						“Dr. Jim cured me of lung cancer,” said farmer Ian  						Roadhouse. “Those other doctors told me that I was a  						goner and had less then six months to live. But the doc  						put me on his mixture and in a couple of months the  						cancer was gone. It did not even show up on the x-rays.”</p>
<p>Dr. Jim discovered this treatment  						accidentally somewhere in the middle of the last century  						when he was treating a family plagued by breast cancer.  						There were five sisters in the family and four of them  						had died of breast cancer. He asked the remaining sister  						if there was anything different in her diet and she told  						him that she was partial to sipping maple syrup and  						baking soda. Since then, reported by a newspaper in  						Ashville, North Carolina, Dr. Jim dispensed this remedy  						to over 200 people diagnosed with terminal cancer and  						amazingly he claims of that number 185 lived at least 15  						more years and nearly half enjoyed a complete remission  						of their disease.  						When combined with other safe and effective treatments  						like transdermal magnesium therapy, iodine, vitamin C,  						probiotics and other items like plenty of good sun  						exposure, pure water and clay treatments we should  						expect even higher remission rates.</p>
<p>It is very important not to use baking soda which  						has had aluminum added to it. The Cancer Tutor site  						reports that Arm and Hammer does have aluminum but the  						company insists that is not true. One can buy a product  						which specifically states it does not include aluminum  						or other chemicals. (e.g. Bob&#8217;s Red Mill, Aluminum-Free,  						Baking Soda).  						 						Sodium bicarbonate is safe, extremely inexpensive and  						unstoppably effective when it comes to cancer tissues.  						It’s an irresistible chemical, cyanide to cancer cells  						for it hits the cancer cells with a shock wave of  						alkalinity, which allows much more oxygen into the  						cancer cells than they can tolerate. Cancer cells cannot  						survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen.  						Studies have already shown how manipulation of tumor pH  						with sodium bicarbonate enhances some forms of  						chemotherapy.<a href="mhtml:mid://00002189/#_edn3">[iii]</a></p>

<p>“The therapeutic treatment of bicarbonate salts can be  						administered orally, through aerosol, intravenously and  						through catheter for direct targeting of tumors,” says  						oncologist Dr. Tullio  						Simoncini. “Sodium bicarbonate administered  						orally, via aerosol or intravenously can achieve  						positive results only in some tumors, while others –  						such as the serious ones of the brain or the bones &#8211;  						remain unaffected by the treatment.”</p>
<p>The maple syrup apparently enables and increases  						penetration of bicarbonate into all compartments of  						body, even those which are difficult or impossible to  						penetrate by other means. These compartments include the  						central nervous system (CNS), through the blood-brain  						barrier, joints, solid tumors, and perhaps even the  						eyes. IPT makes cell membranes more permeable, and  						increases uptake of drugs into cells.  The maple syrup  						will make tissues more permeable, too.  It will  						transport the bicarbonate across the blood-brain barrier  						and every other barrier in the body for sugar is  						universally needed by all cells in the body. The essence  						of IPT is that it allows cancer drugs to be given in a  						smaller dose, far less toxic to normal cells, while  						building up lethally toxic concentrations in cancer  						cells.  Both IPT and bicarbonate maple syrup treatments  						use the rabid growth mechanisms of the cancer cell  						against them.</p>
<p>Dr. Jim did not have contact with Dr. Simoncini and  						did not know that he is the only oncologist in the world  						who would sustain the combining of sugar with  						bicarbonate. Dr. Simoncini always directs his patients  						to dramatically increase sugar intake with his  						treatments but has never thought to mix the two directly  						by cooking them together. Because his treatments depend  						on interventionist radiologists who insert catheters to  						direct the bicarbonate as close to the affected area as  						possible, or physicians willing to do expensive  						intravenous treatments, I pushed bicarbonate up into the  						number six slot in the IMVA cancer protocol. With the  						discovery of Dr. Jim’s work bicarbonate comes back into  						our number three spot right behind magnesium chloride  						and iodine.</p>
<p>That number three slot for a brief time was held by  						hemp oil containing THC. The great advantage that maple  						syrup and bicarbonate treatment has over this type hemp  						oil is that it is legal thus easily obtainable. The two  						together, backed by a solid protocol of other  						nutritional substances makes winning the war on cancer  						almost a certainty. When using these substances it is  						safer to change one’s vocabulary and not say one is  						treating and curing cancer. Far better to conceptualize  						that one is treating the infectious aspect of cancer,  						the fungus and yeast colonies and the yeast like  						bacteria that are the cause of TB.</p>
<p>Dr. Simoncini says that, “In some cases, the  						aggressive power of fungi is so great as to allow it,  						with only a cellular ring made up of three units, to  						tighten in its grip, capture and kill its prey in a  						short time notwithstanding the prey&#8217;s desperate  						struggling. Fungus, which is the most powerful and the  						most organized micro-organism known, seems to be an  						extremely logical candidate as a cause of neoplastic  						proliferation.”</p>

<p>“Sodium bicarbonate therapy is harmless, fast and  						effective because it is extremely diffusible. A therapy  						with bicarbonate for cancer should be set up with strong  						dosage, continuously, and with pauseless cycles in a  						destruction work which should proceed from the beginning  						to the end without interruption for at least 7-8 days.  						In general a mass of 2-3-4 centimeters will begin to  						consistently regress from the third to the fourth day,  						and collapses from the fourth to the fifth,” says Dr  						Simoncini</p>
<p>There are many ways to use sodium  						bicarbonate and it is a universal drug like iodine and  						magnesium chloride. Raising pH increases the immune  						system&#8217;s ability to kill bacteria,  						concludes a study conducted at The Royal Free Hospital  						and School of Medicine in London. Viruses and bacteria  						that cause bronchitis and colds thrive in an acidic  						environment. To fight a respiratory infection and dampen  						symptoms such as a runny nose and sore throat, taking an  						alkalizing mixture of sodium bicarbonate and potassium  						bicarbonate will certainly help.</p>
<p>The apple cider vinegar 1/4 teaspoon and 1/4  						teaspoon baking soda taken 2 times or more a day is  						another treatment as is lemon and baking soda, or lime  						and baking soda formulas. Perhaps honey could be  						substituted for maple syrup for those who live in parts  						of the world where maple syrup is not available but to  						my knowledge no one has experimented with this.</p>
